Companions (do well together)- Basil, Dill, Garlic, Hyssop, Lettuce, Marigold, Mint, New Zealand, Spinach Parsley, Radish, Rosemary ,Sage, Sunflowers Thyme, Tomato
Tips on Harvesting Organic Kale
- Havest two or three leaves from each plant at a time.
- The mature leaves get bitter so harvest leaves when they are young and tender.
- Kale can be chopped up and frozen for future cooking.
- It can used in soups and stews and they add awesome flavor to stir-fries.
Recipe to Cook Organic Kale
Kale, Potato & Barley Soup
- bunch of kale
- 1 onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 3 potatoes, bite size
- 2 carrots, bite size
- 1 cup water
- 2 cup stock (vegetable or chicken)
- 2/3 tsp parsley
- 1 ½ tbs basil
- slice and cube potato & carrots
- heat oil, add garlic, onion, potato and carrots for 3 minutes
- add the stock and water, bring to a boil.
- add the kale
- add the oregano and basil
- simmer for 20 minutes
- serve with fresh bread or toast.
